Hal ini dilakukan sebagai tindak lanjut dari langkah pemerintah menurunkan ketentuan tarif acuan tertinggi biaya RT-PCR menjadi Rp 495.000 di Jawa-Bali dan Rp 525.000 di luar Jawa-Bali. Ketentuan tersebut berlaku mulai 17 Agustus 2021 melalui Surat Edaran Kementerian Kesehatan Nomor HK.02.02/I/2845/2021.
